About me

Earl Rojo
This is me (Earl Rojo)

Hey, I’m Earl Rojo, who lives in Longview TX. I’ve worked with a famous company that was involved in well water servicing business and another company that used to install filters, softeners, pumps on wells. I’ve worked as a senior mechanic in these two firms and have more than 3 years of experience working on different well problems.

The purpose to start this blog is to help people to resolve issues connected to their well water. Millions of people use well water and most of them don’t know advantages and disadvantages of it, so because of same reason I started this blog to help people.

Since wells are privately owned, it is the well owner’s responsibility to maintain the well and water quality. Not everyone can do it. I help people maintain their well and drinking water quality in the right way.

I know what works for water wells and how to deal with different well problems like water contamination, well equipment malfunctioning, local laws, and how to work with a contractor.

Your well water is susceptible to various contamination sources. Hence, getting it tested yearly or whenever you notice a difference in water quality is critical.

Here’s what you can do to ensure good quality drinking water and longer well life.

  • Follow all local laws while digging, repairing, modifying, or abandoning a well.
  • Ensure that you always hire a certified well contractor whenever a well is serviced, a pump is installed, or a well is modified.
  • Get your water tested annually as recommended by the EPA.
  • Keep in mind the minimum setback distances from various contamination sources like septic tanks, fertilizer, chemical, and motor oil storage sites.
  • Check the well cap or cover periodically to ensure it is not damaged or broken.
  • Always use siphon-lock hoses when mixing chemicals with your well water.
  • Keep the area around your well cap neat and clean. Avoid using any fertilizer, pesticide, or herbicide there. Don’t let your pets wander there.
  • Always test well water before installing a water filter, softener, or any other water treatment unit.
  • Make sure you check what contaminants the filter can remove, its flow rate, maximum pressure, cartridge replacement cost, warranty, and certification before buying a water filter for well water.
  • Some states don’t allow using salt-based water softeners. Check local laws before installing a water treatment system.
  • And most important, well water is free, but you must not waste water under any circumstances.

My website aims to make it easy to manage your well and water quality.
